We are pleased to announce that we’ve finalized the details of The Cellar’s fall’s first class: Demystifying French Wine…Burgundy and Bordeaux. Register TODAY to reserve your spot on Thursday evening, October 4, at 7 p.m. Our special guest presenter is Erin O’Connor Fedorko, French wine specialist for Martin Scott Wines.
Erin’s passion for French wines was born out of her time spent studying and living in France. Having obtained her WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) Advanced Certificate, and with almost 10 years of industry experience as credentials, Erin believes in making French wine accessible to everyone. She regularly returns to visit key winemaking regions, and feels honored to be able to share her experiences of these iconic properties with fellow wine enthusiasts.

Domaine Tollot-Beaut et Fils Bourgogne Rouge 2016 France (Burgundy)
“The wine shows a delicate profile on the nose with aromas of red flowers, cherries, and sweet herbs. The palate shows the rusticity of the appellation but with unexpected richness and texture. Aging in 25% new oak barrels brings warm notes of vanilla and spice.” ~ Winery 
Domaine Xavier Monnot Pommard Les Vignots 2015 France (Burgundy)

“The 2015 Pommard Les Vignots offers upfront black cherry, raspberry coulis and iodine scents on the nose, almost Volnay-like in style thanks to its precocity. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry, but there is decent structure here (as you expect with a Pommard) with grippy black fruit that segues into an elegant finish. This is a well-made Pommard les Vignots for those who relish a more fruit-driven style.” WA

Château Laplagnotte-Bellevue, Saint-Émilion 2015 France (Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux)
“This balanced blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc is fruit-driven, exhibiting a deep plum and ruby hue with heady aromas of black currant, black cherry, licorice and graphite. The Chateau Laplagnotte Bellevue Bordeaux exhibits a medium body with soft, silky tannins, and consumer-friendly appeal.” ~ Winery
Château Batailley ‘Lions de Batailley’ Pauillac 2014 France (Pauillac, Bordeaux)

“Crisp, classic Cabernet aromas of blackcurrant and tobacco lifted with hints of dark cherry and rosemary. A pleasing, measured mid-weight appeal and a freshness that really brings this wine to life. On the palate the primary dark berry and cassis notes are joined by notions of forest floor occasional hints of black pepper then a savoury yet sapid blackcurrant finish. Despite this wines immediate appeal there is also some gentle tannic grip that will ensure it drinks well for a number of years to come. Very easy to drink and neatly presented in a classic Pauillac mould.” PG
